Lovers of the earlier recordings of the four orchestral suites (the Ouvertüren) by Trevor Pinnock and his English Concert will be in for treat with this new recording. The playing is even better than the earlier recordings and the understanding and interpretation of the music based on many years of experience. I bought this around the same time as Philip Pickett's small scale recordings of these works. I have returned to Pinnock often, but Pickett much less so.
The recording also features some other colourful orchestral works from the cantatas of Bach. These are all played with great style and no small amount of grandeur.
If you can get this recording, then I am sure you will be very happy with it.
