William Boyce (1711-1779) was one of the earliest composers to popularize the symphony, and his seven short works continue to delight to the present day. In 1980 Ross Pople founded the London Festival Orchestra, whose numerous recordings for Hyperion and ASV have attracted positive reviews, and he has been seen often on the BBC.
